IMMERSIVE LEARNING / THE FIRST PILOT

Choose a workflow.
Then choose
the software.

A practical starting point for small training providers building a first 360° workplace-orientation experience.

Plan your pilot ↗

Independent desk research. No headset or software testing claimed.

Illustrative training designer planning scenes on paper beside a laptop and unbranded 360-degree camera.
Start on paper: define the learner’s decision before capturing a space. AI-generated illustrative scene; not our staff, a customer, a product endorsement or evidence of software testing.

START WITH THE LEARNING TASK

Does immersion earn its place?

Recognise a place

A 360° walkthrough can help learners locate a reception point or recognise a workspace before arrival. Start with three scenes and one observable outcome.

Practise a conversation

A branching browser scenario may be enough. Compare this simpler baseline before buying headsets or a specialist roleplay platform.

Manipulate equipment

360° photographs do not reproduce physical handling. Custom interactive 3D simulation is a different project, requiring specialist capability and validation.

01 / SHORTLIST BY CONSTRAINT

Four routes to investigate

Publisher documentation, not product rankings.
Check exact devices, plans and rights before buying.

Equipment: an authoring computer and licensed 360° media are the starting point. Rent or borrow capture equipment only after a storyboard is approved. Headset pilots also need compatible devices, charging, cleaning, supervision and device management. No equipment purchases are required to use this guide.

02 / MAKE THE CONSTRAINTS VISIBLE

A pilot, with
the hidden work
included.

Use your own quotes in one currency. Defaults are illustrative EUR inputs, not vendor prices. Inputs stay in this page and reset on reload.

First-year pilot estimate · EUR

Includes software + equipment + labour + contingency. Excludes tax, travel, finance costs and recurring updates. Add those to your brief. Per-learner cost assumes every listed learner participates; it is not a learning-outcome forecast.

03 / YOUR FIRST FIELD NOTES

Take a brief to the demo.

01 — Storyboard

Outcome: the learner identifies the correct arrival point. Scene A: entrance with two choices. Correct choice: explain check-in. Incorrect choice: feedback and retry. Scene B: reception. Finish with a location question.

This is an illustrative orientation task, not safety certification. Have the site owner approve every instruction and capture location.

02 — Data & rights

List people, badges, screens and client details that could appear in a 360° frame. Remove or obscure them before upload. Ask about data location, subprocessors, retention, deletion, exports and AI processing. Do not upload real learner data for a demo.

03 — Acceptance test

Run the same brief on the intended browser, LMS and exact headset model. Check keyboard access, captions, readable text, completion records and an equivalent non-immersive route. Test cancellation/export and weak connectivity.

Document observed results separately from vendor promises. Stop if a mandatory requirement fails.
